Best Months to get Married in Colorado

"Wow, Colorado! I can't believe you are getting married there. It's going to be so beautiful." Indeed, it is. But I will be honest with you. The weather is so bipolar! One minute it is raining cats and dogs and the next, it could be snowing, then melted within a few hours. It is unpredictable most of the time. You might be thinking to yourself, "Oh, I want the beautiful back drop of the mountains" or "I want that modern rustic barn wedding outdoors." Well, how do you plan a wedding in the beautiful state of Colorado with unpredictable weather?

First, you need to ask yourself, "Am I ok with having a Plan B or even a Plan C?" If you are not willing to have a backup plan for inclement weather, then I hate to break it to you but, perhaps you should not consider an outdoor wedding in Colorado. Yes, Colorado is beautiful, but a Plan B must always be in mind when planning a wedding. If it starts to hail and there is lightning, your dream outdoor wedding will have to be moved indoors for your safety and the safety of your guests.

Now, with that said, having lived in Colorado for over 12 years, I have learned what it means to have a backup plan for a backup plan. I have seen and learned the weather patterns and can say that there are a handful of months that are ideal. Now, what are the best months to get married in Colorado?!

Best months to get married in Colorado

If you like the sunny weather, warm air and the greenery, your ideal months to get married in Colorado are July and August. Now, with that said...those are also rainy months. If you choose to have an outdoor wedding, you are taking the change of having some rainstorms.

Perhaps you are like me and like to see the leaves changing color and feel the cool night breeze. September and October are great months for that. Keeping that in mind, some years, September and October have been hot months. Then again, other years, we see the first frost/snow in the month of October.

If you are like me, who also likes the fidget cold temperatures, November-March is ideal for the snowy cold winter wedding you always wanted.

That leaves us with April-June. April showers bring May flowers, right? That is not always the case, ha-ha. Surprise! Colorado sometimes gets snow in May. I know, right! Not cool. June is a transition into the rainy season. Now that you know, you are probably thinking, "holy cow, when are you supposed to get married in the state of Colorado then?"
